Save energy and money while preventing greenhouse gas emissions!
The VfL Sindelfingen sports club has replaced all the old energy-intensive fluorescent tubes and spotlights with LED lighting in its two tennis halls. This makes sports events such as class tournaments and league matches, as well as the daily operation of the halls, more environmentally friendly. The annual electricity consumption related to lighting has thus been reduced from the original 208,400 kWh to the current 57,800 kWh. This amounts to around 100,000 kg fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
The conversion provides long-term benefits both for the environment and the club’s budget, which has been significantly relieved by the change. At a total cost of 11,500 euros (compared to the previous 41,700 euros), the club enjoys savings of almost three quarters of its annual lighting power and maintenance costs. The club invested 80,000 euros in the conversion and will break even after only about three years.
